Small businesses are the backbone of Villa Park. They bring character to our neighborhoods, create local jobs, and build a stronger community. But running a small business isn’t easy, and we need to make sure our village is doing everything it can to help them thrive.
I know this firsthand. My first job was at a startup, helping small businesses build their online presence and reach new customers. Since then, I’ve worked with businesses of all sizes to grow, adapt, and succeed. I understand the challenges small business owners face, and I know what kind of support makes a real impact.
That’s why I’m committed to putting real action behind Villa Park’s plans for small business growth. The Comprehensive Plan lays out strategies for revitalizing business districts, creating opportunities for entrepreneurs, and making it easier to do business here. My focus is on making sure these ideas become reality.
Here’s how we make that happen:
Make grants and incentives easier to access. Villa Park already has programs like the Facade Improvement Grant and Tenant Improvement Program, but many business owners don’t know about them or struggle to navigate the process. We need to make these resources more accessible and better publicized.
Streamline the permit and zoning process. Opening or expanding a business shouldn’t mean getting caught up in unnecessary delays. Simplifying these processes will help businesses get up and running faster.
Support business incubators and live-work spaces. Startups and entrepreneurs need affordable space and the right environment to succeed. Encouraging flexible-use buildings and incubators will give new businesses a place to grow.
Invest in our business districts. The Comprehensive Plan identifies key areas like St. Charles Road, Roosevelt Road, and the Uptown District as critical to business growth. We need to focus on filling vacancies, improving walkability, and making these areas more inviting for customers and entrepreneurs alike.
Help businesses market themselves. Too many great businesses struggle simply because they lack visibility. Partnering with the Chamber of Commerce and local organizations to provide marketing support, funding resources, and digital training will help businesses attract more customers.
A Thriving Business Community Strengthens Villa Park
Strong businesses mean a strong local economy, more jobs, and a better quality of life for all residents. My focus is on action—making sure Villa Park is a place where small businesses can grow, not just survive.
If you’re a business owner, entrepreneur, or resident who wants to see Villa Park thrive, I encourage you to stay involved. Let’s build a village where businesses feel supported, families have more local shopping and dining options, and our economy continues to grow.
Together, we can make Villa Park a destination for small business success.
